Rule #1: Bunt like you mean it!

Bunting is usually to advance a runner, score a run, or catch the defense napping. That latter reason may call for a bunt as a base hit, but 9 times out of 10, what's required and expected is a sacrifice bunt — the batter willingly
becoming an out because the lead runner is far more important to the outcome of the game. In other words, what you, as the batter, are doing matters to the team. You could consider it the least selfish action in almost any sport.
