To the Next Level
Remember at the end of the day what we said at the beginning...
Intent is most important, and the details should be understood but not overpower natural swing ability. You want to avoid paralysis by analysis.
Accept that this lesson series was about the mechanics of the swing - only. There are psychological aspects of hitter success to address in mental training. Also players (and their coaches) must understand the concept of the hitter's attention theory - what pitches they are capable of looking for and making contact with, and what pitchers will do to mess up the timing on any attempt at a perfect swing. (Some of the mechanics techniques will compensate by keeping the bat through the likely plane of the pitch for as long as possible.)

For insights on both the mental aspect and attention theory we recommend the works of Tom Hanson and Perry Husband (see side links).

It helps to have a grasp on the mental aspects of hitting, too.

To develop a good swing routine and add more focus to each at-bat, we recommend the training DVD by Tom Hanson called "Zoned In". It will show you how to put measurement to mental training and how to develop consistently powerful at-bats. Click here.

To understand how pitchers are learning to deceive hitters with "downright filthy pitching", you can benefit from the work being done by Perry Husband. His latest books are directed at pitchers, but every hitter needs to be taught what the "enemy" is up to. Click here.
