Reviews are often done by WebBall people. We have tried the Biaxial Plus and love the grip and reinforced barrel. But don't just take our word, here's a comment from a recent customer... "The bats arrived yesterday morning and I had a hitting session with Dad last night. The bats were awesome. The ball came off each bat humming. Dad said to Mum from the first hit I couldn't keep the smile off my face. They look and feel fabulous. The hamate groove makes the bat fit really comfortably in my hands, the bats just seem to be made for me. I can only say again, thank you." - Rhys, Australia
The surest grip, the best bite - guaranteed!
Tom Cat has done the impossible - created a single-piece wood bat with a full protective sleeve that will actually weigh less, swing better, and grip firmer than a conventional wood bat. The secret is the custom-applied biaxial sleeve over a straighted-grained, handcrafted, red maple bat and it now comes with a
90-day replacement guarantee. We don't know any other solid wood bat to offer that assurance.
The bat grain itself is revealed only in the cupping and on the knob (and the optional hamate grove). The rest of the bat is fully sheathed in the biaxial woven fiber. (Click images for close ups.)
Why Biaxial Fiber? Tom Cat evaluated many possible methods and materials for improving grip and strength. Factors looked at were application, weave pattern, appearance, strength, finish, added weight and, of course, performance and price.
The final choice was a biaxial weave that's aerospace grade - a material you'd expect to see as the skin of a stealth aircraft. It provides compressive strength along the handle, with a woven pattern that is good to grip (you don't need pine tar), and adds less than an ounce to the weight of the handle (so won't affect swing momentum and gives the bat better balance)
Follow these steps to order...
1. Start by choosing the barrel taper
Biaxial Plus bats are only available in black, but in any shape in the Tom Cat model range. So disregard the colors shown, but you can use this menu to see and read up on shape, taper, and weight factors. If that leaves you uncertain, use our live chat service, or send an email and ask for help.
Choose from the model list above to review product details. Once you decide, set your chosen model number(s) in the order form below.
2. Choose length and weight
These are personal preferences. Length-drop = weight, so 33" with -3 drop would weigh 30 oz. The core of the Biaxial Plus is lighter red maple but the biaxial sleeve adds up to 1.5 oz. The weight you choose will be the final weight of the bat plus sleeve.
3. Then personalize it
The only available color for the TomCat Biaxial Plus is black. But you can choose the Hamate Groove option, and we'll imprint your name on it - FREE!
90-Day Warranty The TOM CAT BIAXIAL PLUS bat is guaranteed not to break under game use for 90 days from the date of delivery. If breakage occurs during use with regular game baseballs as a direct result of manufacturing defect, return the bat to the TOM CAT BAT COMPANY at customer expense with a written explanation of the failure. Customer will receive a custom replacement bat of the same make and model. The warranty does not cover cosmetic surface blemishes that result from normal wear, nor breakage from abuse or neglect.
Important Shipping Information Tom Cats are made in Canada but ship from upper New York State. Shipping is based on order charge plus a fee per bat. When you add a Tom Cat Bat to our shopping cart, a second line item will appear for 'Tom Cat order handling'. Please leave this as set.
On Timing: Allow at least 3-6 weeks, more if you can. Bats required during Spring season should be ordered in Jan/Feb. Bats for late Spring should be ordered in March. Summer Ball should be ordered by May. Bats for Fall Ball leagues should be ordered by mid-July. Bats for winter ball by Sept. Orders after these dates may or may not be in your hands when you need them.
On league requirements: While the Tom Cat Biaxial Plus sleeve is fused to a single-piece red maple bat, the covering does extend over the barrel. While it is NOT a composite bat by the usual definition, it may or may not be accepted as a game bat by all leagues.
