Infield Tryout or Practice Drill

New In-Motion animated QuickTime version now available for WebBall Team Players. Please sign in or join.

During an early season practice with full squad, here's a way to get both Senior and Junior teams working the infield together.

RED lines show direction of nits and throws

BLUE lines show the in-out rotation of the fielders.

Set Up

Treat both 2nd and 3rd base as pivot points for double plays and you can almost double the number of infielder picks, feeds and relays.

Either combine Jr and Snr varsity players (or equiv. major/minor groups) at each spot, or keep the two groups working on separate pivots. (There is a rotation that will allow everyone to work from every angle, both fielding and pivot work.)

Each fielding group can have more than two players (shown here with only 2 to keep the graphics simple).
