- from Ron Wolforth to the USSSA Chairman/Executive Director/CEO and his two Assistant Executive Directors
Dear Mr. DeDonatis, Mr. Swint and Mr. Brown,
The following is an article I have prepared to send to several media outlets, in which I have been a previous invited columnist, regarding my recent observations at the Elite 32, 9-11-13 year old world series at the Wide World of Sports in Orlando Florida.
As a courtesy I will not send this transcript until Thursday August 13th.
The following week I may, depending upon your response, expand its release to other media outlets who specialize in baseball.
It is my current assumption that yourselves and the USSSA organization aspire to continually do what is right for the health and well being of your young members.
I simply assume your organization’s poor judgment with regards to the decision as to the number of warm-up pitches each inning for these young arms was a genuine and honest mistake/oversight of naivety, ignorance and/or omission. You simply didn’t know better or you didn’t think through the possible consequences of such a policy. Your response will tell me volumes as to how I will respond.
None-the-less the USSSA policy in this regard needs to be re-evaluated immediately and subsequently altered. (see article for suggestions)
I will be very happy to offer the USSSA any of my time or professional expertise regarding the health and the reduction of injury to youth pitchers at absolutely no charge or fee. Simply call my office and schedule a consult with me via Jill [phone number provided].
That said, whether you use me or some other experts in the field, please know I view this issue with extreme seriousness and one that I will never let rest until I believe it has be adequately addressed.
Respectfully Yours,
Ron Wolforth
