Infield Drill

New In-Motion animated QuickTime version now available for WebBall Team Players. Please sign in or join.

Quick pace drill for all infielders, suitable for baseball and softball, for the diamond or the gym.

RED lines are direction of ball throws or simulated hits.

BLUE and BLACK lines are direction of player movement.

Set Up

This drill involves 5 fielders and a coach. The focus is on the player in the middle - in the "hot box".

The coach feeds balls - either by hand or with a fungo - and the player in the middle must react, make the catch, and finish with a throw to a "base".

As shown, it takes up only half the ball diamond infield, so you can fit it into a large indoor batting cage, or gym, or run a second hot box on the other side of the mound (or work another drill in that space.)
