New for the 2008 model year, the ALJ-101 is a 12 inch, flytrap-web glove is made with the new light, tight-grained leather. The open back, medium pocket and lighter weight make this a good choice if you play many positions - for pitchers as well as short and 3rd base and the outfield.
Kip leather originated in Europe with tanning in Japan. Akadema uses U.S. steerhide put through this process. The result: Kip leather is 20% lighter and tighter grained than conventional steerhide. As a result Precision gloves are more pliable, easier to break in, with more tensile strength. They cost more but the improvement in fit and playability makes Akadema Precision an excellent choice for the serious ballplayer.
