Coach Dave Weaver was the kind of instructor who could make the rest of us feel like we'd been "mailing it in" all these years. Dave never did. When illness slowed him down during 2010, and finally took him in June 2011, the baseball world lost one of the best instructors there ever had been. Fortunately, we have his legacy on screen. In this remarkable video, Dave still walks us through every aspect of how to teach catchers in incredible detail, explaining both what to teach and what not to teach. He debunks some common wisdom while reinforcing correct technique in ways that go beyond any catching DVD I've seen. If you ever work with catchers, if you are a catcher, you must have this. - Richard Todd, WebBall
The best new video on catching in years!
In this 2 hour, 40 min training DVD, New England Catching Camp founder Dave Weaver not only shows you what to teach catchers but how to teach them. The instructional chapters on each skill set - receiving, blocking, throwing and fielding - go into great depth for both baseball and fastpitch catchers from ages 8 to 18.
In well structured chapters, you'll learn...
- How to give signs without giving away the play.
- How to improve your pitch receiving with bases empty and runners on.
- How to make sure strikes are called strikes, and how not to annoy the umpire.
- How to speed up your throws to all the bags.
- How to handle pop-ups error-free.
- And much more.
Both catchers and their coaches will benefit from Dave Weaver's years of experience. In our view this is the best best catching mechanics video ever made.

I'd like to comment on Dave Weaver's Catching Video "Coaches Guide to Training Catchers". It is one of the best I've ever seen. Packed with great information, well presented and extremely well demonstrated. No fill..no frill... just a great, inexpensive clinic that is well worth the price. I highly recommend it to anyone who has to deal with youth catchers.
