To the Next Level
We are now almost at the point in the swing in which everything achieved by load must be launched. But first we need to deal with a controversy.

Nothing has created more debate on swing mechanics than two words: "rotational" and "linear".
  • WebBall has run Challenges on it.
  • We have seen instructors try to explain both while understanding neither.
  • We have seen the coining of the term "rolinear" on the assumption that it means the same thing to all.
While we will continue to provide a forum for such discussion, and we will continue to offer pages on both "purist" approaches as background info, our current take has been filtered down to something simpler.

Our approach on the swing launch now falls in line with those who say that there are aspects of the swing which are linear and aspects which are rotational. That's not a cop-out or compromise; it's a matter of timing and sequence - when and how to transfer energy from load to launch.
