Which is first, leg stride or upper-body load?
Simple enough question, but great debates have been waged over it. The problem is, most often, these are broken into 2 steps. And we do need to cover the details in separate lessons (following). However, in the swing sequence, they should be together. Why? Consider the following statement:
"The purpose of balance is to keep the head stable and the eyes level and most of the time the athlete will instinctively try to do that anyway."
Any attempt to stride forward, must be met with a counter-balancing, equal-yet-opposite movement to the backside, otherwise the head will drift forward to stay over the belly button - the center of gravity (CoG) of the body.
