Footwork is not the purpose of the swing, but it is the starting point every time you step in the box and there are some "ground rules" you should understand.

Two bad habits to correct
  1. Most kids step into the box with the front foot first.
  2. Most kids bend way over to tap the far side of the plate.
Not every coach is going to agree with the following. Some might call these points a non-teach. Perhaps they're nothing more than pet peeves of ours, but we've seen how they can make a difference.
