Every time we do a Nose 2 Nose survey like this, it's tough to know where wishful thinking ends and serious goal setting begins.
Looking at the specific goal pie charts, it seems that there are a number of planned improvements various coaches have and intend to execute. But what we found interesting in these results is when we looked at the cross tabulated data, comparing the overall season goals with what it might take to get there. It seems that those who want to just get a few more wins or a .500 season, see different priorities than those with championship aspirations.
We'll let you draw your own conclusions. Just remember: there are no proven approaches here, it's just what some voters think it will take to get there. You can add these to your own goals, or see reason to find others. Either way, play well, and have a good season.
Comments from voters...
We didn't receive a lot of comments (because the survey itself gave lots of options). Those we did get are telling...
My team's goal will be to compete against the game itself. If we play the game correctly and reach our competitive goals, winning should take care of itself, and if we reach all of our goals and lose, then we have a teachable moment.
Increase each players' core baseball skills get them to think, play for themselves get them to perform at their best, w/o pressure win one or two invitational tourneys have fun safely get them ready for high school team tryouts next year.
Develop all players and win while providing equal playing time.
Make my team believe they can win everytime they hit the field.
