This is the start of our latest interjection within our pitching lesson series and we have two people to thank for this - Brent Strom & Steve Englishbey. The words however are ours, so if we have mangled their technical explanations, we claim it's on purpose, sort of. Compare this with our similar discussion on loading in Hitting.

The problem most coaches have in teaching mechanics is that they are on the outside, and the business of pitching is about the forces and counterforces created inside the body. So before we get into the obvious, visible phenomena of leg lift, stride and foot strike, let's start where the lower body power really starts - in and around the hips.
