Phrase Definition
Table setter Batter whose job is to get on base for other hitters to drive him in. Usually a leadoff or No. 2 hitter
Take To let a pitch go by without swinging - an overused coaching strategy in youth baseball
Tape-measure blast An extremely long home run
Tater Slang for a home run - a baked potato, as opposed to a can of corn, we suppose
TB (TB) is the abrev. in records for Total Bases
Texas leaguer A looping fly ball that drops safely beyond the infielders and in front of the outfielders. Also called a blooper or bloop single or duck snort
Throw a chair To throw a pitch that makes the batter return to the dugout and sit down - i.e. a strike-out.
Touch 'em all Hitting a home run (touching all the bases)
TPA (TPA) is record column for Total Plate Appearances
Triple (3B) in scoring. Three base hit
Triple Crown One player who leads the league in batting average, home runs and runs batted in. Very rare at any level of play
Triple Play A single defensive sequence that records three outs - usually a combination of a line drive catch, a step on the closest bag, and a throw to first - not worth practice time. (TP) in scoring
Twin killing A double play
