| Reliever |
A pitcher who replaces the starter or another relief pitcher. He has a chance to win, lose, save, or not be involved in the final outcome. (RPF) stands for Relief Failures, (RW) for Relief Wins |
| Rhubarb |
A fight or scuffle |
| Ribby |
Also ribbie and ribeye. Slang term for Run Batted In. A batter earns an RBI if he hits a runner home or walks when the bases are loaded, forcing the runner in. No RBIs on a double play or if there's an error in the play |
| Roll a Pair |
Get the opposition to hit into a double play, i.e. roll two or turn two. |
| Rope |
A hard line drive hit by a batter. Also 'frozen rope' |
| Rubber |
(1) The pitching plate on the mound. One foot must remain in contact during stretch and wind-up. (2) Rubber game - the deciding game of a series |

A play by fielders to tagout a runner between bases - remember to chase the runner back, never forward, and try to get the out with a minimum number of ball exchanges (throws) |
