Mid-Group: Pitcher - Second - Short - Catcher

Dave HallDave Hall Entering his 26th year as Head Coach of Perrysburg High School in 2011, Coach Hall has a record of 462-263. He has won 6 Northern Lakes League Championships winning 5 in the last 14 years. His teams have won 11 Sectional Titles and 3 District Championships and were District Runner-up in 1991. In 2003 2008, and 2010 they went to the Sweet 16 in the Ohio State Tournament. Last year the Jackets were rated #3 in the Final State Poll in Ohio and finished in the Elite 8 in the State tournament. Nine of his teams have won 20 games in a season going 22-7 in 1998, 27-3 in 1999, 23-5 in 2001, 22-7 in 2002, 23-8 in 2003, 20-9 in 2005, 21-9 in 2008,23-7 in 2009 and 26-6 in 2010. His 2003 Team went to the State Semi-Finals in Ohio.  He has coached 16 All-Ohio players. 56 of his players have played College baseball, 3 have been drafted and 6 have played pro ball with two-Ron Rightnowar making it to the Majors Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers and Burke Badenhop presently with the Flordia Marlins. The Jackets have also qualified for the Ohio State Acme State Championships eight times, winning the Acme State Title in 1998. Coach Hall is on the State Acme Board of Control and is the 2nd Vice-President of the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association. Coach Hall teaches Sociology at Perrysburg High School. He also coached 25 years of High School Football and is presently Assistant Athletic Director. (Click to close.)

  • DOUBLE-STEAL CALL#1
    • P cuts off C throw to 2B, then goes after runner from 3
    • Or checks him and gets runner from 1 caught up.
  • DOUBLE-STEAL CALL#2
    • C throws through to SS at 2.
    • Both P and 2B fake cut to stop runner from 3.
  • DOUBLE-STEAL CALL#4 
    • C throws to 2B in cutoff.
    • 2B has options to throw Home or back to SS at 2 for rundown.
  • GROUNDER to P
    • Force AT 2B
    • Force TO 2B
  • BUNT
    • P throws to SS
    • P throws to 2B
  • STEALING SECOND
    • Runner simulated, with 2B covering
    • Runner simulated, with SS covering
Pick-Off Playbook
  • Daylight Runner on 2.
    • SS jockeys up behind runner's left shoulder, then breaks to bag.
    • P throws as soon as he sees daylight.
    • If 2B calls daylight, SS comes up to runner's right shoulder.
    • 2B breaks to bag as soon as SS gets to runner.
    • P wheels, throws.
  • One-Four (One-Six)
    • C calls P first name, 2B or SS last name.
    • On P stretch, 2B/SS breaks to bag.
    • IF C pops mitt, P wheels and picks.
    • If C drops mitt, P steps off only.
      Also do-able in windup (runners 2+3 or bags loaded).
  • Six-Four (Runners 1 and 2, expecting bunt.)
    • 2B cheats toward 2.
    • SS breaks to runner then toward 3rd.
    • 2B breaks two steps to first, then sprints back to 2.
    • When SS turns to 3rd, P throws to 2B.
  • Reverse (Must do on full count, two out, also any other time.)
    • 2B or SS runs regular daylight.
    • P cheats up on top of rubber, brings leg up and steps to 2 for pick or fake. Don't step off.
  • Two-Four (Two-Six)
    • C throws to 2 after pitch.
    • Call C first name, 2B/SS last name. Throw only on big lead.
  • Center One
    • P fakes pick at 2, 2B/SS fakes miss, CF charges yelling "ball, ball".
    • P throws to 3B if runner breaks, or else charges runner himself (ball hidden).
  • Center Two
    • Similar to above but C starts the fake, to get runner from 3rd hung up.
