All things being equal, what would you choose?

With the regulations now set for 2011 for metal bats (NCAA and HFHS), it's time to appreciate wood again.

Here's why... Because metal bats must follow the new BBCOR standard - basically requiring alloys to perform no better than wood - we think wood has new reason to be the first choice for every league. But not just any wood. WebBall has selected only a couple bat makers who are doing it right. We encourage you to check them out and base your decision on science, quality, and craftsmanship.

FYI: NCAA Rule 1.12 (a) permits solid wood bats, and all-wood composites if approved; rule 1.12 (b) for metal requires complicated testing which seems to change with every season.

True innovation in wood bat performance

Everything about RockBats is different - from the way the company started, to the approach they take with stock selection and the way bats are crafted ...even different in how they're labeled. It's a combination of innovations that equals performance - the kind of bat you want to get your hands on.

Among the innovations: sweet spot identification, FORCE Technology edge-orientation, slope of grain ink spot, composites featuring 3 woods, ends trimmed and cupped for fine-tuned balance performance.

Born from a craftsman's love of vintage baseball...

Phoenix now produces contemporary bats in a state-of-the-art, custom bat manufacturing shop in Ohio.  Approved for use by Major League Baseball players in 2000, demand has grown every year from players at every level, mostly by word of mouth from thousands of very satisfied customers across the country.

The Phoenix brand has become synonymous with power, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Note: Due to safety concerns, WebBall no longer recommends any metal alloy game bats. We believe there are simply too many brands and models which do not adhere to the BESR (exit speed) standard, and even those that do have safety implications that are not fully appreciated. We are also fans of wood for any number of other good reasons and encourage you to start a wood bat league for your age group and district. Among our recommendations on this page are bats made of maple, white ash and even bamboo, in both Pro and Youth sizes. Happy hitting!
