They're made with lighter leather on the back side called Akadema Lyte, but maintain the Pro-calibre steerhide on the "business" side. As a result, they're easier to break in, yet perform well in recreational league play. But the economical price point has found growing acceptance of ProSoft gloves among serious players, too. So much so that this is now Akadema's fastest growing line.
