I still have an older version of this Reptilian model that I have used as a coach. Small pocket but the "finger-less" design absorbs the ball well and makes for easy transfers. - Richard Todd, WebBall
Reptilian design and Kip Leather makes this a great glove. The AXX-105 was introduced in 2006 and continues to be a popular choice. With a 11.5" pattern, double X-web, open back, and medium pocket was designed for professional second basemen, shortstops, third basemen, and pitchers.
The natural air pocket acts as a shock absorber for initial ball impact, stopping spin, making glove to hand transfer smoother and quicker. Near fingerless design acts as a shovel for easier ground ball scooping and quicker glove to hand transfer. Reptilian Leather looks and feels like snake scales which gives better traction and grip for less ball spin.
Kip leather originated in Europe with tanning in Japan. Akadema uses U.S. steerhide put through this process. The result: Kip leather is 20% lighter and tighter grained than conventional steerhide. As a result Precision gloves are more pliable, easier to break in, with more tensile strength. They cost more but the improvement in fit and playability makes Akadema Precision an excellent choice for the serious ballplayer.
