Running Your Tryouts - Field Use

Drills shown include Turn and Sprint, Round the Bags, and Ping.

Guidelines...

Confine hitting to a batting cage (machine or live pitching) or do soft-toss or whiffleball screen drills (outside of backstop if possible).

Run pitching tryouts from sideline bullpens or on other days - don't tie up the infield.

Outfielders don't need the whole field to show their range.

Infield drills can be more varied with the use of portable screens.

Foul territory can be used for time trials - provided you stay clear of possible infield/outfield overthrows.

All stations are run by assistant coaches (when hitting is required) or non-baseball parents (for simple ball handling). Let drafting coaches roam.
