This book substantiates some of the theories and debates in pitching circles in recent years on where velocity comes from. The research on rotational velocity supports the prior discoveries of others and the proven backshaping training approach used by Ron Wolforth. Unfortunately it fails to give them credit where due, but aside from that likely unintentional oversight, and a failure to cite Perry Husband when discussing "effective velocity", this Tom House edited book has much to recommend it. There are meaningful biomechanics sections, some great conditioning routines, and a more detailed explanation of the weighted ball routine of Coop DeRenne. Should be in your library; will definitely have an impact on your pitching performance.- Richard Todd, WebBall

An insightful study on where/how to generate velocity

Tom House, and NPA contributors, present an in-depth look at velocity and how it can be safely developed. The subtitle says it all:  "How to Train to Throw with Real Velocity". Details on where velocity gets generated, and how to condition the total body to maximize a pitcher’s genetic potential. Topics covered include rotational and directional momentum, timing, and fastball velocity, the biomechanical derivation of real velocity, how the legs, hips & shoulders, and spine & torso contribute to the mechanics of real velocity, and prehabilitation training regimens. Includes conditioning protocols for real velocity from the National Pitching Association, the Titleist Performance Institute, Elite Baseball Academy, Beacon Orthopedics/Champion Sports, Victorian Institute of Sports Conditioning, and other resources. Large format with over 180 clear photographs and illustrations. To order with other Tom House titles, click here.
